HONEY GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP & BROCCOLI
Honey garlic butter shrimp & broccoli are quick, simple, and always a winner!
A mouthwatering sticky sauce that perfectly coats the prawns. Takes only 20 minutes to prepare, like my 20-minute Garlic Brown Sugar Pork Chops, making it the ideal weekday meal while yet being delectable enough for entertaining.
INGREDIENTS
- 50 ml of honey
- Soy sauce, 1/4 cup
- a teaspoon of fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons of garlic, minced
- A quarter-teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 50 ml of cornstarch
- Large shrimp weighing 1 pound, skinned, deveined, and optionally with tails removed.
- 2 teaspoons of butter
- 2 cups of broccoli, chopped
- 1/9 cup olive oil
- pepper; salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine the honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and red pepper in a small bowl until well combined.
- Add 1/3 of the sauce to the deveined and peeled shrimp in a bowl. Marinate for 30 minutes by tossing.
- Mix the cornstarch into the marinade that was left over and set it aside.
- Add olive oil, salt, and pepper to a high-heat skillet or wok (I use cast iron), broccoli, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender. Set aside after removing from the pan.
- In the skillet, melt the butter and add the shrimp, removing any marinade. On each side, cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes until they turn pink.
- Bring to a simmer and add the remaining sauce. Toss in the broccoli and cook until tender.
- Serve with pasta or white rice.
- If desired, garnish with green onions. NOTE: I leave the shrimp tails on. It tastes better and looks better. However, you can remove them at any time.
COOKING ADVICE FOR HONEY GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP & BROCCOLI
- For this recipe, I prefer to use giant 16–20 size shrimp, but you could use any size.
- Typically, when I prepare shrimp, I leave the tails on. has a nice look and adds more flavor.
