Baked Feta Appetizer Notes

What goes well with Baked Feta Appetizer?

Greek-born feta cheese is a staple of modern Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking. This means that foods and flavors from the same regions, such as olives, hummus, pita, almonds, bell peppers, and roasted vegetables, pair nicely with feta. To give this feta dip a traditional Mediterranean flavor, we pair it with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and herbs.

Prepare, storage and reheating

  • Preparation: One of my favorite party foods is this baked feta appetizer, which can be prepared a couple of hours in advance. Follow the recipe’s instructions to prepare the feta, and when your guests arrive, bake it for a warm appetizer that everyone will enjoy!
  • Storage: For up to five days, leftovers can be kept in an airtight container.
  • Reheating: Baked feta can be warmed through in an oven heated to 325 degrees.

Is FETA cheese cooked in an oven?

Due to its relatively high acid content, feta cheese becomes soft in the oven but does not melt. The proteins in acidic cheeses like feta tighten and release moisture when heated. The cheese loses its moisture and becomes too dry to liquefy. Although the feta in this baked feta recipe is soft and spreadable, it is not melted.

What can I do with a block of fat-free cheese?

“Everything’s betta with feta” was the old marketing adage, and they were right! A feta block can be dressed up in any way you want and has endless possibilities. With sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and crispy, crunchy crostini, this baked feta recipe becomes a cozy, warm appetizer!
