Italian meatballs served over a bowl of spaghetti

Nothing is more reassuring than a hot bowl of meatballs in marinara sauce over spaghetti noodles, delivered with a side of garlic bread. This was the ideal meal I had always imagined myself enjoying.

One of the nicest dinners I’ve ever had, the meatballs served at the restaurant were very huge in size and so amazingly soft that every bite virtually melted in your mouth.

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Italian Meatballs Ingredients

  • Italian breadcrumbs, half a cup
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1 lb of your choice of meat or ground beef
  • a medium onion, coarsely diced or grated, and two cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 big beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste.
  • Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon
  • ideally 1/4 cup parmesan cheese Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • 1 tablespoon fresh or 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a baking mat and preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Milk and Italian bread crumbs should be combined in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and set aside while the other ingredients are being prepared for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Using your hands, combine the breadcrumb mixture with the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and black pepper until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  4. Place on the baking sheet that has been prepared (using a cookie or ice cream scoop will make this easier). Roll meatballs into balls with a diameter of 2 inches using water to wet your hands.
  5. The meatballs should be baked for 18 to 20 minutes, or until they are 165°F (74°C) inside. Drain any excess fat after removing the pan from the oven. Enjoy it with your favorite sauce!

Notes

  • Meatballs with a texture that melts in your mouth and are extremely tender can be made using this recipe.
  • If you like your meatballs to be more firm: The breadcrumbs should be reduced to 1/3 cup, the milk to 1/2 cup, and the salt should be slightly reduced.
  • In the air fryer, cook your meatballs as follows: Cook them for 10 to 12 minutes at 400°F (200°C) in the air fryer basket in a single layer until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • How to freeze meatballs: Before storing them in an airtight container, simply cook them as directed and allow them to cool completely.
  • They can be stored in the freezer for up to three months. To serve, simply reheat at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes in the oven or 3-5 minutes in the air fryer after being frozen overnight.
